Ballard Target rifle with period custom barrel showing false muzzle double set triggers, perch belly stock Swiss butt plate, venier tang sight, adjustable windage front sight, frame #31711. The barrel is numbered16511 beneath fore end. The fore end was originally fitted for a palm rest which is missing. The metal surfaces are brown patina with traces of an old blue which may have been a period re-finish now aged. The topflat of the barrel shows a rail type mounting for scope which measures approx 4-1/4” in length. The buttstock and fore end do not match and the forend shows ¾ checkering and a horn for end cap. The rifle bore measures.38 and appears longer than 38/55 and should be verified before shooting. The bore is in near fine condition and bright, an interesting period custom target rifle whose rifling we do not recognize but we would date before the 1920’s by the style. Est.; $1,500-$3,000.
