Front cover slightly chipped, else Near Fine. The original edition of this notable work, with superior plates. This book analyzes coins from the Lampsakos mint. The coins from this period and from this mint are Greek staters.- Period I - End of the Sixth and Beginning of Fifth Centuries B.C. Thirteen coins in this period are described.- Group 1 - Reverse with incuse square divided into four equally sunk compartments. Two different obverse designs are described (pointed amphora and vine wreath).- Group 2 - Reverse with incuse square consisting of alternating sunk and raised compartments.- Period II - ca 450 B.C. Forepart of a winged horse on obverse - reverse with incuse square divided by two raised lines into four compartments, two are diagonally opposed as less deeply sunk than the other two.- Appenda Each coin has a detailed description in the text. There are 2 black and white coin plates and 34 pages of text. There are coin photos throughout the text too.
