</font></strong>John Bageris (1924-2000), Abstract original oil on canvas.
Born in Fremont, Ohio in 1924, John Bageris? has since become one of the premier abstract artists of this century. He earned a BFA at the Art Institute of Chicago and an MFA from Wayne University. He also spent time studying at the Academy of Fine Art in Munich, Germany. Bageris has had his work exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, Detroit Institute of Art, Werbe Gallery in Detroit, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Brooklyn Museum, and the Smithsonian Institute among others.
By 1958 he was teaching at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. In 1972 Bageris moved to the Boston area to teach at the Institute of Boston and DeCordova Museum. The work of John Bageris is highly regarded and collected. His paintings are described as abstract and impressionist in style, full of imagination, energy and fluid colors. He has produced a limited body of works making them very difficult to obtain.
This is an expertly rendered abstract oil on canvas painting. The tones and colors of this painting are a great example of the level of mastery that Bageris has over his paint. The brushwork is very unique and gives the impression of motion. This painting is a perfect balance of quick, dashing and jagged strokes, combined with slow, smooth and curving strokes that feather out into nothingness.
