Background Ren & Stimpy Show Cel Original Production
This is an original production animation cel from the Nickelodeon TV show Ren & Stimpy. The show follows two characters - Ren, a crazy Chihuahua - and - Stimpy, an incredibly stupid cat - as they think up to all kinds of hair brained schemes and get themselves into some sticky situations. The Ren and Stimpy Show debuted in August 1991 with a two-part episode, 'Stimpy's Big Day / The Big Shot' and became an instant hit. It was the third Nicktoon ever to be aired on the Network alongside Doug and Rugrats. Ren seems to have cut out his brain.Original Production Art Cel Cel Overall Size of the Cel: 10 1/2" x 12 1/2" Overall Size of the Background: 11" x 13 1/2" Excellent condition This is an original hand-painted cel set-up used in the production of an episode of "The Ren & Stimpy Show." Each one-of-a-kind set-up represents a slight change in position of the characters. When individually photographed and projected in rapid succession, the images appear to move.
To create production cels, the original animator's drawing is transferred onto an acetate cel (by hand-inking and/or photo copying). The cel is then hand-painted on the reverse side. The cel is ready to be matted and framed. The animator's notations are shown at the bottom of the background and the bottom of the cel. The art is a paper cut-out pasted onto the cel.
