Wonderful early image. Taken by C.E. LeMunyon of Great Falls. 5" by 7". Conrad and Muth of Marysville, Montana Territory, was started in 1879 by Joseph P.Conrad and William Muth. In 1883 E.W. Bach joined the firm. In December 1884 the partnership of Conrad, Muth and Bach dissolved when the partners opened separate stores in Marysville and Bach moved toHelena. The former partners, however, retained close ties. In April 1886, William Muth retired from the mercantile business to set up a real estate company in Helena and Bach, Cory and Company bought his Helena,Gloster, and Marysville businesses. This new company also set up a branch store in the nearby mining camp of Empire. Another firm doing business in Marysville and Empire was William S. Negus and Company. The Bach, Cory and Company records consist of ledgers, daybooks, and other financial records of the stores at Marysville (1879-1887), Empire (1887-1888), and Gloster
