Babe Ruth Portrait 500 HR Club Series
Babe Ruth Portrait from the 500 Home Run Club Series by Andy Jurinko. The man who started the game's fascination with the home run. Unsigned.

Andy Jurinko is widely recognized as one of the nation's premier sports artists, joining Leroy Neiman and Robert Simon as the hobby's most collectible painters. His childhood in Philadelphia in the 1940's and 1950's, when the city played host to teams in both the American and National League, fueled a love of and fascination with a game that Jurinko has called "the most American of all subjects." In the 1980's he began focusing almost exclusively on baseball in his artwork, and has completed over six hundred works in that theme to date. His work has been featured in such publications as The New York Times, Sports Illustrated and New York Magazine, and is part of the permanent collection of The Baseball Hall of Fame.

Sadly, many of Jurinko's works were lost in the terrorist attacks of 9/11, which destroyed his home and studio that stood just three hundred feet from the World Trade Center's South Tower. We are pleased that these eighteen paintings that follow have survived, celebrating the game's timeless fascination with the long ball. Each compelling 28x34" oil on canvas portrait pictures a member of the esteemed 500 Home Run Club. Many are signed by the superstar pictured, with LOA from PSA/DNA. All derive from the personal collection of hobbyist extraordinaire Barry Halper.
