Few names in sports are more recognizable than the great Babe Ruth. He is recognized as the player who single handedly saved baseball after the Black Sox scandal of 1919. The exploits of the Yankee Great, both on and off the field, made him a legend. He was one of the original five elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown in 1936. Babe Ruth is an Original, One-Of-A-Kind, Mixed-Media Print by Well-Known Sports Artist, Murphy. This very special, original print was created to commemorate Babe Ruth's 100th Anniversary (1895-1995). This great collector's item was reproduced from an Original Oil Painting that the Artist created in 1993. The original painting portrayed Babe holding a cigar in his right hand and the mug that he is holding was filled with beer. A limited edition lithograph was scheduled to be published of this image. For licensing purposes, it was requested that the Artist remove the NY from Babe's cap, remove the cigar and also change the beer into an ice cream float. Although the newly created print was endorsed by the Babe Ruth Family, The Babe Ruth Baseball League, Inc., The Babe Ruth Museum and licensed by Curtis Management Group, the limited edition lithograph was never published from this Original, Newly Created Print. The Artist has re-painted the NY logo back on Babe Ruth's baseball cap. This very special collector's, One-Of-A-Kind Original Print, is hand-signed by the Artist, Murphy, on the lower right. This museum-quality, Original Mixed-Media Print, is double matted in blue & white with a very nice blue wood frame. This print measures 34 1/2 X 27 1/2 framed and is in excellent condition. A serially numbered, destructible eggshell tamper-proof seal is affixed to the print and it is accompanied by a tamper-proof, forge-proof, copy-proof Certificate of Authenticity from Elaine's Fine Art. The COA also has a matching serially numbered seal affixed to it. Any tampering with the seals causes the seal to fragment, making it impossible to reuse, further insuring the authenticity of the item. The purchaser is also recorded as the registered owner.
