BYZANTINE EMPIRE: Andronicus II, Palaeologus, 1282-1328, AV hyperpyron (5.02g), Constantinople, S-2396, with Michael IX, struck circa 1294-1303; half-length figure of the the Theotokos (Mary), orans, within city walls with six towers; flanking, two clusters of pellets above / Christ standing facing, crowning kneeling figures of Andronicus and Michael to either side, a superbly struck example with nearly full legends!
