David Davidovich Burliuk (Russian/American 1882-1967) depicts man and woman couple walking. The woman is holding flowers and a house can be seen in the background. Signed lower right. Measures 7 3/4" h X 5 3/4" w + 1 1/4" matte and frame. Burliuk was born in Russia and studied at the Art School Kasan in Odessa, as well as the Royal Academy in Munich and the Moscow School for Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. In 1911 Burliuk exhibited with the famous Blue Rider group in Munich. Known also as a Neo-Primitivist, he is mainly associated with Russian Futurism and co-authored the Russian Futurist manifesto A Slap in the Face of Public Taste. Burliuk immigrated to the United States between the world wars and lived there until his death.
