BULLITT

British Quad (30" x 40"); Style A From the David Frangioni Collection
Fine on Linen; Artwork by Tom Chantrell
Warner-Pathe, 1970

Provenance: David Frangioni is a published author, music businessman, producer, technologist, engineer, philanthropist, and drummer. He has worked with Aerosmith, Shakira, Ringo Starr, Ozzy Osbourne, Robbie Williams, and hundreds more. He is CEO of Modern Drummer Magazine and has several books published, including Clint Eastwood: Icon: The Essential Film Art Collection and Crash: The World's Greatest Drum Kits, both by Insight Editions. Frangioni is considered one of the world's most prominent and knowledgeable collectors of Clint Eastwood memorabilia and boasts an enviable archive of movie posters and memorabilia.

This is the "Style A" British quad poster for Peter Yates' action thriller starring Steve McQueen, who was at the height of his success at the time. The famed car chase scene, in which McQueen did all his own driving, set a new standard for all such action sequences to follow. Tom Chantrell's poster design/illustration presents a close-up image of McQueen's face with his gun prominently displayed. This design feature would appear in Bill Gold's posters for Dirty Harry (1971). This example is linen-backed with pinholes in each corner and scattered restoration where needed. One of the most collectible of all Steve McQueen Quad titles.
