BRINGING UP BABY

Photogelatin 40" x 60"
Very Fine on Linen
RKO, 1938

Described in the passbook as a 40" x 60" full-color display, this is likely the only copy to have survived. It sold for a whopping one dollar and 25 cents in 1938 and few have survived due to their fragile nature. It resembles a large glossy lobby card.

The poster has been stabilized on linen professionally and the linen has been trimmed up to the edge of the poster, but not into it. There are several small airbrush spots on the border and there was a small tear from the top border above Grant's head, just into the blue field.

Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant create fantastic screwball chemistry in this Howard Hawks comedy, which was initially built as a vehicle for Hepburn, who plays a woman who turns the life of Grant's brontosaurus-constructing paleontologist upside-down. It is recognized as a genre classic.
