The first is an unidentified instrument, possibly used on a ship or in survey work or for artillery purposes, all brass and mounted in a mahogany display shadow box 8.50'' x 11'' x 3'' including instrument. The hallmarks include, '' B6M angem, W. Ludolph, Circle with 'W', 9881, W. Ludolph, Bremerhaven, Hamburg''. The company was founded in 1846 and continues in business today as a manufacturer of instruments. The second instrument is a hand-pinpointing compass with weighted brass base and mounting ring, hallmarked C. M. Hammer, Goteborg (Germany), CMH, #4928'', 8.50'' x 6.75'' without sights.
