BOULANGER, NADIA
(1887 - 1979) French conductor, first woman to conduct the New York Philharmonic and other notable orchestras. Scarce A.L.S. "Nadia B" on her conservatory letterhead, 1p. 4to., Paris, Sept. 13, 1960, to Dick Hammond, a New York musician and colleague of Leopold Stokowski, Igor Stravinsky, and others. In part: "…Thank you so much -- it is so dear of you to remember the 15th, ought to be frightened by the number reached. But, in spite of being clearly conscient [sic] of is, no not feel it well. Am as the little boy who, on his anniversary day, asked at what hour he was born. He went in front of a clock and said: 'Funny, one grows old, and feels nothing'…". Folds, very good.
