John Murray, 1851FIRST EDITION, with a portrait, pages xx (i.e. xviii), 360 : xi, 366 : xi, 426, bound without the half-titles or advert leaves, 3 vols, 8vo, original cloth, with printed paper spine labels : the boards lightly discoloured, the labels rubbed, four inside hinges cracked, bookplate removed from each front endpaper : internally very good to nice.In this set there is no sign that the half-titles were ever present, all three title versos are blank (Wise states that there are adverts on each), the endpapers in volume one and three are pale yellow and in volume two mid-brown.ALSO WITH THIS LOT: (1) [PEMBERTON ( ), Mrs].
