BLUE AND GOLD CARPET
CARPET: This VERY RARE rug is from the late Q'ing Dynasty. It is over 100 years of age, and originates from Inner Mongolia. This rug is made of wool with vegetable dyes. The interpretation of this unique rug, according to a Chinese music theorist from Biejing University is as follows: 'During the Spring and Autumn Period (Zhou Dynasty), there was a musician named Yu Boya, who was known to produce music with his Guqin. While boating on a river, Yu Boya came upon a woodcutter named Zhong Ziqi who happened to enjoy the music. While sharing stories through song, Yu Boya and Zhong ziqi produced ancient music that became famous, called 'Gao Shan Liu Shui', English language translation to mean 'High Mountains and Springs'. Yu Boya went on tour to introduce his music, and upon his return, learned that Zhong Ziqi had died. Yu Boya was so distraught that he played a song in memory of his dear friend, then broke his guqin to pieces, never to play music again.' 2'8"W x 5'3"L
