"The tin type of four gunmen was obtained in Las Cruces, New Mexico. It was
a box of 20 tin types found in a trunk, in an attic in Mesilla, NM. Research
matches the man on the left with the only know photo of Tom O'Folliard and the
other man on the left as Charles Benton. Both were good friends of Billy the Kid.
The other man in the picture resembles Jesse Evans who rode with Billy the
Kid. Enlarging the tin type shows that the two seated men are holding guns.
The man who bears a strong resemblance to the only signed picture of Billy
the Kid, is also wearing a ring like the one Billy was reported to wear. The
picture was taken around 1880."
