BESNIER, Ernest [et alii].- Le musée de l'hôpital Saint-Louis. Iconographie des maladies cutanées et syphilitiques avec texte explicatif. Paris, Rueff et Cie, [post 1894]. In-f° : [2]-iv-346 pp., gravures sur acier in texto et 50 planches en couleurs (petit manque de texte p. 166 collé sur la pl. 23, tache pp. 299-317 sinon très frais). Rel. de l'époque : demi-chagrin noir à coins, plats de percaline aubergine chagrinée, dos à nerfs (coupes, mors et coins frottés).
SAISISSANTE ICONOGRAPHIE en couleurs, soit 50 planches de gros plans figurant des lupus, herpès, chancres syphilitiques, mycose fongoïde, psoriasis, épithéliome, impétigo, gale pustuleuse, naevus, lèpre tuberculeuse... Signalons la planche de lésions de la jambe chez une cocaïnomane. Illustré aussi de 45 planches gravées sur cuivre ou photographies in texto reprennant le plus souvent la figure hors texte en couleurs mais en plus petit format, en noir et légendé.
Edition originale de cet atlas paru en 50 fascicules illustrés et commentés par Ernest Besnier (inventeur de la biopsie), A. Fournier, Tenneson, Hallopeau, Du Castel et Henri Feulard et destiné à mettre en valeur la collection du musée puisqu'il consiste en la reproduction de ses moulages. Le noyau de ce musée provient d'une série d'aquarelles reproduisant des affections cutanées exécutées à la demande de Devergie qui en fit don. Husson le développa en y joignant des photographies faites par Montjema et Hardy, ainsi que d'autres aquarelles réalisées par Brion, mais c'est Lailler qui l'enrichit vraiment en réalisant une série importante de moulages en cire colorée exécutés par Baretta (1.800 moulages entre 1867 et 1894). Devant l'ampleur que prenait la collection, le 1er étage du nouvel hôpital Saint-Louis construit en 1885 lui fut attribué. Cet atlas, dont la préface est datée 1894, représente un apport important à la médecine de l'époque. 600 Euros

Terms of sale require buyers to pay immediately for their purchases, which means that lots will be released to them only when full and cleared payment as been received by us
In addition to the hammer price, the buyer has to pay a buyer’s premium of 21%, V.A.T. inclusive, all strictly in cash and in Euro's (EUR)
In case of original art and if the principles of the author’s rights are applicable, an extra 4% must be paid on each hammer price of at least 1250 EUR
All items are assumed to be in good condition unless otherwise stated. Buyers are kindly invited to carry out their own inspection of the lots they want to buy. All items to be auctioned are on view for several days prior to the sale.
Returning an item after the striking of the hammer will not be accepted, whatever the reason put forward. Those items bought on order must be inspected within 8 days after receipt. Any return after this term will be refused.
All items of the catalogue with the mention « n.c. » (non collationné = not inspected) are not subject to return. Neither are those sold in lots (two items or more) works consisting in multiple volumes and periodicals or series.
If you cannot attend the auction, we can execute written bids on your behalf. To ensure a satisfactory service, it is necessary to make arrangements for the services at least one day before the sale.
On every purchase Belgian law only is applicable, and all cases of dispute are exclusively to the competence of the Brussels Chamber.
