Entitled “Personal Message from the Army Commander,” being Montgomery’s last message as commander of the Eighth Army “To be read out to all Troops.” The general indicates he has been ordered to “<i>take command of the British Armies in England that are to operate under General Eisenhower - the Supreme Commander</i>...” He compliments the troops, saying, “<i>In all the battles we have fought together we have not had one single failure...I am also very sad at parting from the Desert air Force</i>...” He closes, “...<i>may we were together again as comrades in arms n the final stages of this war</i>.” Boldly signed “<i>B. L. Montgomery</i>” in black ink beneath text, and again as “<i>Montgomery of Alamein</i>” in blue ink at top margin. Four ½" fold separations with no paper loss; few edge nicks with minimal paper loss; general toning; occasional light foxing; o/w VG.</span></p>
