BELL AIR COBRA MANUFACTURER'S DESK MODEL
Maker's presentation desk model of a Bell Air Cobra, about 6" tall with a chromed model of the aircraft with markings attached to a swivel mount at top. The base, a darker cast metal, bears the maker name and model. Chrome worn in places, and if a propeller was originally present, it has gone missing, else very good. The Bell P-39 Air Cobra was one of the principal American fighter aircraft in service when the U.S. entered the war. It would be attributed with the highest number of individual kills of any U.S. fighter type. Exhibition history: Intrepid Sea Air Space Museum, 1995-2007. Provenance: The War Museum, New York.
