BEFORE HIM ALL ROME TREMBLED

Italian 2-Fogli (39" x 55"); Country-of-Origin
Fine- Folded
Minerva Film, 1946

This beautiful country-of-origin poster from this italian war drama exhibits border pinholes with edge wear, general fold wear with crimping and small areas of paper loss, a large crease and small paper loss in the upper right panel, and a 5" tear on the right border that was reinforced on the verso with tape.

The film was produced soon after Anna Magnani's performance in "Rome, Open City." It weaves together the efforts of the underground movement in Rome in 1944, fighting against the Germans, with a group of opera performers who are also part of the Italian resistance. Their rendition of "Tosca" parallels the city's occupation, albeit during the Napoleonic era. In contrast to their "Tosca" roles, the members of the troupe survive to perform for the Allied forces.
