BC-24a $10 1937
This spectacular note bears the first signature combination used on the 1937 notes, J.A.C. Osborne and G.F. Towers. This proved to be a short lived pair, as Osborne, who was on loan from the Bank of England, resigned his position as the Deputy Governor of the Bank of Canada in September of 1938. High grade examples bearing this signature combination, especially in denominations above the $5, are quite scarce. This perfectly centered and screamingly original note might well be the finest of its kind. Of the 28 BC-24a notes graded to date by PMG, this is the only example to reach the Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ level, and is, in fact, the sole BC-24a specimen to grade higher than Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ. Any estimate here is but a mere surmise, but collectors who desire the finest will all want to own this note.
From The Thomas M.
