Ivey's strong Native American heritage and a family history on ranches in
Colorado and New Mexico inspire the western themes of her work. In her travels
Ivey has found watercolors easier to carry, and she spent years perfecting her
technique, participating in shows and getting awards, and teaching in Missouri,
Texas, and New Mexico. A Signature Member of the Southwestern Watercolor
Society, she has served as their president. Her list of juried invitations include the
Albuquerque Museum Miniature Show 1993-1996 and 1999-2003, Mountain
Oyster Show 1996-2003, Art for the Parks 1998 and 2000, the Gilcrease Miniature
Show 1994,2001,2004 and 2006, the Missouri Athletic Club "America in Paint
and Bronze" as their publication cover artist, the Pecos Roundup, Carlsbad, New
Mexico 1994-1996, and the C.M. Russell Museum Miniature Show 2003-2007, and
the "The American Woman Artist and the West Show" at Tucson Museum of Art. In
2004 Ivey was one of twenty -six artists invited to participate in the Buffalo Hunt
Show to benefit the C.M. Russell Museum. Her awards include the Grumbacher
Gold Medal, Daler-Romney Gold Medal, Artist Choice at the Midwest Gathering of
Artists in Carthage, Missouri, and finalist in the "Artist's Magazine" art competition
of 11,500 entries. Ivey lives in South Fork, Colorado. She is represented by Austin
Gallery, Austin, Texas, and the Phillinda Gallery, Edwards, Colorado.
