"Back to the Future Part II," the 1989 sequel to the 1985 film "Back to the Future," directed by Robert Zemeckis, continues the adventures of Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) and Dr. Emmett "Doc" Brown (Christopher Lloyd). They travel from 1985 to 2015 to prevent Marty's son from jeopardizing the McFly family's future. It was the third highest-grossing film of 1989 and was followed by "Back to the Future Part III," also directed by Zemeckis. The sequel won the BAFTA award for Best Special Visual Effects and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Visual Effects in 1990. "Back to the Future Part III" was released in 1990, where Marty McFly discovers Doc Brown in peril in the year 1985 and time-travels to save his friend.
