<td width="100%">
It is hard to imagine a snuff box surviving for 170 years, but here we have it, hallmarked Birmingham, 1836, by Thomas Shaw, an important silver box maker. The rectangular box has a picture frame style top with light dentil designs around the "frame" and a clear center (some scratches), but unengraved. The lid edge has banding and graduated swirls on the front. The bottom edges have banding, and the bottom is covered with rows of dentil type design. Looking at the reverse is a slight bend in the lid's right corner, above the full, 9 lug piano hinge. The interior is plain, and is hallmarked both inside the top and the left inside bottom; scratching to the interior from use. Completely functional; lid closes fine. The hallmarks: anchor/TS/duty mark. Dimensions: 2-7/8" wide x 1-1/2 long x 7/8" tall. Weights 2.4 ozs.
