<B>UNITED STATES [C] Scott #594, 1c Green coil waste</B><P>A choice, virtually perfectly centered example, tied by a 1924 New York Station Y machine cancel, paying the 1c unsealed circular rate, on a clean locally delivered cover; this particular example of the 1c coil waste issue is among the four finest in existence, on or off cover, (Scott notes that its catalog price is for examples with the "perforations just touching the frameline on one side"); additionally, this is the only cover, of the four known (two of the four are postcards), bearing a single stamp used to pay the 1c circular rate; a great 20th century postal history rarity; the existence of this rare stamp was not even discovered until several years after it was issued; Ex.
