SN: 18840 Rare 1891 vintage British military magazine fed bolt action service rifle chambered in .303 British, that was later downgraded to a Drill Purpose rifle. Features a blued finish, 30.2" barrel, ramped blade front sight, latter style rear sight graduated to 1800 yards, volley sights, metal forend cap with bayonet lug, piling swivel & improper cleaning rod, serrated trigger, detachable 8 round magazine linked to the bottom metal, magazine cut-off on the right side of the receiver, two-piece dust cover on the bolt, black leather sling, smooth wood hand guard, full length forend with finger grooves, and straight grip shoulder stock with metal disc and trapdoor metal buttplate. The right side of the butt socket is marked '[crown]/VR/B.S.A. & M. Co./1891./1*,' the stock is marked "EY" and the barrel & receiver are marked "DP" over the chamber. Serial numbers match on the receiver, barrel and rear sight. The majority of the metal surfaces bear and aged brown patina with approximately 15% bright bluing retained in the protected areas. Action is sound, bore is good, and the refinished wood stocks are near fine with a chip in the handguard. Condition is NRA Very Good ***Antique Firearm*** From The John F Sukey Collection
