Quite possibly the largest collection of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks lodge tokens ever assembled. Seven double wide, 14 inch long boxes with over 1,800 tokens from around the country, Canada and international. For those unfamiliar with the fraternal organization, from the Elks Club homepage: " Since its founding on February 16, 1868, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE) has been recognized by the noble creature that is the symbol of the Order. The elk is a peaceful animal, but will rise in defense of its own in the face of a threat. The majestic creature is fleet of foot and keen of perception. A most fitting representation, the stately elk is, for a distinctively American, intensely patriotic, family oriented organization subscribing to the cardinal principles of Elkdom, "Charity, Justice, Brotherly Love and Fidelity."
In 1975 Duane Feisel compiled a list of lodges published in Trade Token Topics. In October 1991, Robert Cardiff and Michael J. O'Brien published a list of Elks Lodges in the TAMS Journal (a copy is included). Also a 1939 membership card from Kansas City Lodge No. 26; some scrip from various lodges. A unique opportunity to acquire a lifetime collection of this important fraternal organization! Please come inspect this unique opportunity in person!
