Pilot Directional Indicator (PDI) from the instrument panel of a B-24 Liberator, measuring approximately 3è x 3è x 3è and stamped on the reverse in yellow: "B24," "B24-D," and "2146." When the bombardier would take control of the airplane for the bombing run, he would send turning commands to the pilot via this gauge. In very good to fine condition, with soiling to the bezel.

Designed by Consolidated Aircraft of San Diego, the B-24 Liberator was a heavy bomber used extensively in World War II: along with the B-17, the B-24 was the mainstay of the US strategic bombing campaign in the Western European theater. Due to its range, it also proved useful in bombing operations in the Pacific, including in Japan.
