Automaton - Clown Acrobat
Automaton - Clown Acrobat - Circa 1895, Roullet et DeCamps, Paris. Clown balances upon a white stationary ladder atop a velvet covered wooden box platform. He is wearing what appears to be original silk shirt, pants, and costume features. Bisque head with glass paperweight eyes, closed mouth, mohair wig, carton torso and legs, and composition hands. One rung of ladder is disconnected from the upright, but it in no way interferes with the operation of the automaton. Complete with R&D original key. Acrobat slowly raises his body into a handstand position, lowers into a perpendicular and then back to a handstand. He then lifts his left hand, supporting his body with his right hand. He then lowers to the original starting position.
