Unsigned three page letter handwritten by ''Son of Liberty'' William Ellery, dated 1 January 1804. Ellery, who signed the Declaration of Independence on behalf of Rhode Island, sat on Rhode Island's Supreme Court and was the first customs collector at the port of Newport. The 6.5'' x 8'' card style letter, written in brown ink, refers to a legal case in which Ellery was involved. Expected folds and minor toning, very good condition.
