Designed expressly for removing the head of a stationary target, the executioner's sword (also known as the Sword of Justice) was made with a blunt tipped, non-tapering blade, which moved the center of balance forward, allowing for more powerful chopping strikes at the cost of maneuverability. Measuring 44 1/2 inches overall, this sword is fitted with a 36 inch long, 1 5/8 inch wide blade, with a small proof stamp on each side of the ricasso, and the inscription "Wan Dich in Tungent Ubest Woll" and "Dis Richt Schwert dich Nit Treffen Soll" (High German, untranslated) in the fullers. 8 1/2 inch wide cross guard, with light leaf engraving and ball quillons, a twisted wire grip, and a fluted ball pommel.
