Irish-born sculptor (1848–1907) of the Beaux-arts generation best known for embodying the ideals of the American Renaissance. TLS signed “Augustus Saint-Gaudens,” one page, 5.5 x 8.25, September 17, 1906. Saint-Gaudens writes to Miss Frances Arnold of Windsor, Vermont. In full: “As a token of our appreciation of the part you took in the ‘Masque’ of June twenty second, MDCCCV, Mrs. Saint-Gaudens and I beg you to accept the accompanying medal which bears your name.” In very good condition, with horizontal mailing fold and scattered light creasing with a vertical crease passing through his name. Accompanied by program from a 1913 performance of ‘A Bird Masque.’
