Letter to Queen Adelaide the day after the death of William IV. In part: “Although I fear I can not afford you much consolation upon the sad occasion, yet I do flatter myself that the assurance of my participation in your sorrow…of the…loss we have suffered will at least be some demonstration of the sad affliction which at the present moment must weigh upon you …” Intersecting folds, one through a single letter of signature, a few brushes to text, as well as some mild toning, otherwise fine condition.
