This is an original August Heller liquor crock jug from Kalispell, Montana. Heller opened his saloon ant 140 Main Street in Kalispell in 1900. His establishment featured imported liquors, poker, and prostitution above the saloon. In 1910, temperance leader Carrie Nation delivered a gospel message outside the saloon. Eventually, Prohibition put Heller out of business in the late 1910's. This jug features a label that reads "August Heller Full Measure Wholesale & Retail Liquors Kalispell, Mont.". The jug shows the desirable two tone salt glazed finish. It is in good condition with no chips, cracks or other damage. There is some wear to the glaze on the handle as shown. The jug measures 5.5" in diameter and is 8.25" tall.
