<td width="100%">
It is a pleasure to offer a pewter charger from Augsburg. To the front is engraved a monarch , enthroned with crown upon his head and to the left in a shield what appears to be an eagle, somewhat similar to the Prussian eagle, to the right also in shield is what appears to be an artichoke on plith which is armorial of Augsburg.

Sourounding the plate is a design finally engraved.

Not having a pewter reference text I cannot identify the marks to the reverse with any accuracy, and our dating of this piece is based on our belief alone. The plate may well be much older than we have indicated or slightly younger.
One mark appears to be a crowned double headed eagle of the Holy Roman Empire. This remained in existence to the time of Napolen who abolished it.Another mark is similar to S.W. E.E.INZIN. (in lozenge) and the other mark is the S.W. E.E, in SZIN repeated.
