Post-Mauryan, Tribal, Audumbara Janapada, Rudradasa (100 BC), Punjab Region, Copper Unit, Obv: a three-storied temple with an axe-shafted and a ribboned trident on the right field, traces of Brahmi legend around the field, Rev: a tree within railings and the forepart of an elephant on the right field, a lion standing facing right with upraised tail, a three-arched hill at the top-left, the Kharoshthi legend “Mahadevasa Rana Rudraadasasa (Odubarisa)” around the field, 2.3g, 15.30x16.47mm, (Variant of Handa # Pl. VI-2/PAIC # 1033), about very fine Rare.
Note: First observed on a specimen acquired by the British Museum, the reverse of the coin depicts a lion. It is of the same type and has rarely been offered at auction.
