Bell Co.for 10,000 shares of capital stock ($10 per share). Company capital was$1,500,000. Hand signed by companypresident Thomas D. Adamsandsecretary James Dunne. Certificate is about 6.5” x 11”.Unique reverse side with a detailed map of the company’s mining claims in Leadville. “Map showing the property of the Brookland Mining Co. on Carbonate Hill, Leadville, Colorado” is printed above the map.The Brookland Mining Company had mining operations in the Leadville Mining District in Lake County, Colorado. Company mines were in the Carbonate Hill outside of Leadville where rich silver and gold ores were mined from underground lodes. Their mining claims and mine shafts and drifts are shown in detail on a map on the reverse side of the stock certificate. As documented on the reverse side of the certificate, the company’s mining claims included the Agassiz, Wolftone, Monte Cristo, Brookland, Maid of Erin, Henriette, Waterloo, Morning Star, Evening Star, and Catalpa, which were some of the richest claims in the Carbonate Hill mining district of Leadville.
