***Auction Highlight*** 1917-d Reverse Walking Liberty Half Dollar 50c Graded GEM Unc By USCG. The combination of artistic excellence in the designs and a numismatic challenge in the date and mintmark set draws a significant number of collectors to pursue the dime, quarter, and half dollar series designed by Adolph Weinman and Hermon MacNeil, each debuting in 1916. As a result, dates that would typically be considered only "slightly better" are, in practice, conditionally rare, as the collector demand far outweighs the supply of high-grade coins. In the Walking Liberty half dollar series, the 1917-D is one of these issues. It was produced with the mintmark on both the obverse and later the reverse. Despite having a significantly higher mintage (nearly 2 million coins), the Reverse Mintmark variant is actually scarcer in high grade. The issue is scarce in MS65 and rare finer. This Gem example displays frosty satin like luster and lovely preservation. Pleasing detail appears in the centers. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation
