***Auction Highlight*** 1901-p Vam 21 R5 Morgan Dollar $1 Graded Select+ Unc By USCG. The 1901 is the condition key of the 20th century portion of the Morgan dollar series. Most of the nearly 7 million coins minted were either paid out shortly after production or were melted in 1918 under the terms of the Pittman Act. No bag quantities of Mint State examples are known, and most of the Uncirculated pieces around today turned up randomly in mixed bags or dealer stocks. Today, Uncirculated coins are in short supply and primarily grade in the MS60 to MS62 range. This Plus-designated Select example is a delight for the advanced collector, and finer examples are rare. The eagle's breast is a trifle soft, as usual, but the surfaces are surprisingly clean for the grade. A loupe reveals a few trivial marks on Liberty's cheek that prevent a finer designation. Other than a halo of amber-gold peripheral toning, this high-end 1901 Morgan dollar is brilliant. We have seen few finer examples. I have included another ms63+ for your comparison. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation
