***Auction Highlight*** 1877-s Gold Liberty Half Eagle $5 Graded Select Unc By USCG. Up for Auction is a Numismatic rarity, an Uncirculated 1877-s $5 Gold Liberty. It is estimated that less than 300 examples survive in all grades and less than 5 in Mint State. To date PCGS has only ever graded 3 examples as mint state and NGC has only ever graded 1 in Mint State condition. The example at hand is fully struck, has great eye appeal with pleasing orange gold surfaces. Moderate contact marks are normal for the grade. A true Numismatic rarity, and Tied for 2nd Finest known. (NGC’s sole Mint State example is ms61 and PCGS has 1 Graded ms60, 1 in ms61, 1 in ms62 and 1 in ms64. The PCGS ms61 and ms62 have never come to auction, the ms64 has come to auction twice, in 2002 and 2004, and not seen since. In 2002 it sold for $21,275, and in 2004 $28,750 and duplicates may be present in these 5 coins). Trends au58 $6,500 ms60 $10,500 ms61 $11,000, ms62 $16,000. I think a $16,000 estimate at the coin at hand is accurate (note the sole ms61 from ngc sold in 2007 at auction for $11,500, no coin over ms60 has sold at auction in over 13 years, until today)! A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation
