Per Ron Guth of PCGS : The Braided Hair half cents boast some of the lowest mintages of any U.S. coin types and are among the best values, as well. Every date in this type boasts a low mintage. By way of comparison, the mintage of the any Braided hair Half Cent is almost a fraction of the mintage of the 1909-S VDB Lincoln Cent (a far more valuable coin), making this an excellent value. An overall boldly defined example, minor softness is confined to a few of the obverse stars and, on the reverse, a couple of the leaf clusters on the branch. Warmly patinated in gray-brown, the surfaces retain blushes of original faded mint orange color in the protected areas around some of the design elements, especially on the reverse. A smooth and satiny example with a pleasingly original appearance. Scarcer than the 1849 Large Date and 1857, the 1850 is the most elusive circulation strike Braided Hair half cent in Mint State. An important bidding opportunity for the astute collector. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win Coin
