***Auction Highlight*** 1834 Plain 4 Classic Block 8 HM-5 "LIRERTY" Classic Head Gold Half Eagle $5 Graded ms63 details By SEGS. Up for Auction is the Ultra Rare 1834 Plain 4 Classic Head $5 Gold Half Eagle. McClosky 2-A, Breen-6502. Currently known as the HM5 Variety, and known as the “LIBERTY”, Very Cool Liberty in the Headband that has an Open B that looks like an R. Very Cool. If that wasn't enough, it also has the terrific Tripled 4 in the date. The HM-7 uses the same Obverse, but is more common. It can be distinguished from the HM-5 in that on the Reverse of the HM-5 The 2nd A in America Touches the Arrowhead. Ultra Scarce Variety of an Ultra Rare coin. The example at hand has Reflective Fields and grades ms63 Semi PL Details. No overt reason for the Details designation, as no distracting marks or hairlines present. I believe a light wipe on the obverse is the reason. I could easily see this in a straight grade holder. To date SEGS & PCGS has only ever certified 2 examples as the HM-5. NGC has certified None!. Good luck in capturing this Numismatic Rarity, The “LIBERTY” HM-5 Classic Head $5 Gold Half Eagle. Note I’ve given an example of an ms65 by NGC so you can that the coin is notoriously weakly struck in the centers as can be seen on this Gem as well as ours. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin
