***Auction Highlight*** 1806 B-9A Draped Bust Quarter 25c Graded vf++ By USCG. Up for Auction is a very scarce 1806 Draped Bust Quarter Dollar, Tompkins Die State 2/2. This is a beautiful original example with superb patina and superb detail for the grade. The example is the Browning 9A, which appears to have the star further from the curl than it actually is. If examined with a loup you will find the hair curl behind the head and below the E are present, they just failed to pop. The 9A is not an “Official” variety, but is listed by Browning a a separate listing. The coin is struck from an early state of the dies before any die clashing, but not before the obverse cracked vertically from the rim to 1 in the date, through Liberty's hair, to the E in LIBERTY. The reverse represents the earliest known state of the die, with a rim cud above AT in STATES. Later die stages show additional cracks, die clashing, and die lapping. The Draped Bust Quarter was produced in limited numbers and erratically during the earliest years of U.S. Mint operations, the quarter was not a popular denomination with contemporary silver bullion depositors. Such coins were produced at the request of depositors during the late 18th and early 19th centuries, and those dealing in silver bullion much preferred half dollars and silver dollars over quarters. Trends on this great example are xf40 $3850 and vf30 $2,000 A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin
