***Auction Highlight*** 1806/5 O-101A R-7 TOP POP! Draped Bust Half Dollar 50c Graded vf30 By SEGS. HIGHLIGHT OF THE NIGHT - THE RAREST DRAPED BUST HALF WE HAVE EVER SOLD!. This example is a Large Stars, Knob 6 Variety, which means it must be the 1806/5 Overdate. With the huge die break/rim cud on the reverse it becomes the 101A, terminal die state of the 101. Dominant silver gray patina with glints of pale gold and warmer olive-charcoal evident as the coin rotates under a light. There are no marks of note, the surfaces predominantly smooth in hand. The obverse and reverse are both boldly defined for the grade. This is the rare terminal die state of the otherwise readily obtainable 1806/5 Overton-101 variety, the O-101a attribution with a Rarity-7 in the Spring 2019 edition of the Herrman AMBPR. Steve M. Tompkins (2015) reports that "perhaps less than 10 examples [are] currently known" for this die state. Tompkins Die Stage 4/4. To date only 1 has been graded by PCGS as a vf25, this is only the 2nd ever certified and it is clearly superior at vf30. The vf25 sold in 2019 in a Stacks sale for $3120. The only other example to ever come to auction was a vg08 in 2010. Our coin is the finest known example. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation
