***Auction Highlight*** 1802/0 Rev '02 C-2 Draped Bust Half Cent 1/2c Graded vf++ By USCG. Up for auction is one of the if not the rarest date in the half cent series. The example at hand is one of the finest known surviving examples. To date PCGS has graded 198 examples. Of these 198, all but 27 graded fine or lower. The example at hand is A pleasing 1802 half cent, with unusually smooth surfaces. Both sides are chocolate brown, the surfaces are lighter than the typical piece. Each side has the normal tiny pit marks, however, lack any other nicks or blemishes. It has a fully formed hair curl to the left of the 1, with terrific detail for the grade. The example at hand is a very pleasing and problem free vf35. I would place it at the tied for 3rd finest in existence with only two graded finer. Per Ron Guth of PCGS: As a date, the 1802 is considered very scarce and no examples are known above Extremely Fine. In fact, this is the only date of the Draped Bust type that is unknown in Mint State. Some 1802 Half Cents were struck on cut-down, defective Large Cents and some show traces of the under type from the host coin. Trends on this rare date are xf45 at $150,000, xf40 at $35,000, vf35 at $18,500, vf30 at $15,000. I have included pictures of three pcgs coins for reference on grade. Also not that only 1 coin has graded xf45, and 1 coin at xf40. The lone xf40 is currently listed for sale at $137,500 A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation
