Attributed to Thomas Gainsborough (1727-1788), Portrait of a young boy wearing a cap and with a scarf tied at his neck, oil on canvas, bears inscription verso painted by Thomas Gaisborough and presented by him to Mr. Thomas Long Melford, Suffolk, the father of The Rev.d Thomas of Silent Street, Ipswich, 35.5 x 29.5 cm The vendor of this lot has in their possession a receipt from Hugh Belsey, Curator, Gainsborough House, dated 1987, for the picture whilst it was in his care. In the wording of the receipt, he refers to the picture as 'Attributed to Thomas Gainsborough'. This will not be included in the sale. (see illustration) £1,000-1,500
