As per the artist's biography on reverse:
Cornelius Pearson was born in Boston, Lincolnshire, but moved to London at an early age and was apprenticed to an engraver. There he began to paint and exhibited 145 works at the Royal Society of British Artists, Sussex Street and also at the Royal Academy. His collaborations with Thomas Wainwright, the renowned painter of cattle and sheep are particularly sought after; Pearson would paint the landscape and Wainright the sheep or cattle.
Two of his watercolours can be found in the Victoria and Albert Museum, both views of Wales. Four works are held at the Royal Academy and at the New Watercolour Society.
