Manufacturer: Unknown Model: Flintlock Pistol
Fitted with a fixed bead front sight, the barrel is extensively decorated, starting with a gold washed band covering the upper half of the muzzle, a 2 3/4 inch long golden radiant sunburst centered on the sight, a scroll engraved half length top flat leading up to a floral engraved band, which separates the round front of the barrel from the gold scroll accented rear. Light floral engraving is present on the lock and hammer, with a raised fence integral to the flashpan and a roller equipped frizzen spring. Smooth stock with a bone tipped hardwood ramrod, gold accented ramrod pipes and a number of scrimshawed ivory panels; each side of the forearm bears discs and ovals with checkerboard and scroll patterns, busts of men in feathered headdresses on the top, right side and underside of the wrist, a pikeman on top of the wrist, and a 9 inch long section of floral vine decoration on the left side. The pommel is a brass strip accented hardwood ball, measuring 3 1/10 inches wide and 3 1/5 inches long, with cross-marked ivory disc, diamond and floral inlays and a small ivory accent knob on the butt. Either assembled during the Victorian Era or made for the Eastern Trade, whatever the case this pistol is very attractive. Provenance: The William Ashby Collection

Condition:
Good as assembled, with a mixed gray and brown patina overall, along with some light handling marks and spotting. The stock is good, with a crack on the right side ahead of the lockplate, some looseness in the brass pommel strips, and a small amount of wood absent from the left side near the trigger. Mechanically very good.
