These Remington No. 1 Rolling Block Grade A Creedmoor Rifles were manufactured between 1873 and 1890, with an estimated production of only a few hundred. There is a wind gauge spirit level globe front sight mounted in a dovetail at the muzzle that is marked "344" on the left side and a long range folding tang Vernier sight graduated to 500 yards. The top of the barrel is marked "E. REMINGTON & SONS ILION, N.Y." in one line on the top flat, "44.2 7/16" on the underside in front of the forearm and the 6-line patent address is stamped on the left side of the receiver. The serial number "6777" is stamped on the lower tang. Mounted on a smooth Schnabel-tip forearm with steel end cap and a checkered pistol grip stock with ebony grip insert, fancy wood grain and a smooth shotgun buttplate.

Condition: Very fine as partially refinished (barrel), with 90% of the blue finish, showing the start of a smooth brown patina, faint barrel address, scattered handling marks and minor spotting. 40% case colors are present on the receiver, which has silvered out in areas. Stock is very fine, with mild pressure dents and attractive feathering on the right side of the buttstock. Mechanically excellent.
