Attractive and Desirable Engraved Gold Inlaid Winchester Field Grade Model 21 20 Gauge Double Barrel Shotgun with Case and Factory Letter

Manufactured in 1953 and subsequently masterfully embellished and restocked. The receiver, trigger guard, break lever and forearm hardware are decorated with fine floral scroll engraving with a matte background. The fences are engraved with an oak leaf and acorn design. There is an oval panel on each side of the receiver with a gold inlaid relief hunting dog in a wooded scene, there are two gold inlaid relief pheasants in a field scene on the bottom of the receiver in a round panel and a gold inlaid relief dogs head in a scallop bordered circle on the trigger guard. There is a two inch wedge of the same engraving design on the breech end of the barrels. Matte solid rib with an ivory front and steel mid bead sights, 3 inch chambers, choked full/modified with ejectors. The left rear of the barrel is marked "MODEL 21 -WINCHESTER-/TRADE MARK- 20 GAUGE 3 IN". The water table is marked with the three line address/model markings on the left side and the Winchester oval proof on the right side. The Winchester proofed barrels are marked "FULL" with the right barrel struck and "MOD" added. All blue finish, single trigger with gold select button, automatic tang mounted safety with gold "SAFE" and mounted with triple x fancy Fluer-de-Lis checkering, including the flats and checkered bare butt. The accompanying factory letter verifies the grade, gauge, 30 inch barrels choked full and full, single trigger, auto safety, pistol grip stock with rubber buttplate, made for "Stock", selective ejection, 3 inch chambers, that the inspection was started on October 19, 1953 and completed on December 31, 1953. The shotgun was returned on July 14, 1954 and the right barrel choke was changed to modified and it was then re-shipped on July 15, 1954. Comes in a brown leather bound takedown hard case with leather straps and handle, and lime green corduroy lining with a Winchester Model 21 label affixed to the inside of the lid. Length of pull is 14 1/2 inches, drop at comb is 1 1/8 inches, and drop at heel is 1 3/4 inches. Bores measure .612 (right) and .615 (left), bore constriction is .010 (right) (Mod) and .026 (left) (Full).

Professionally embellished to near new with only light handling/storage marks. The case is very good with some stains and minor scuffs on the exterior and the label is partially separated from the inside of the lid.
